Ruffles Scarf & sweater stash!
Last summer I recycled some lovely softest lambswool in cream and was using it to experiment with Kool Ade dying. I didn't really dye enough yarn to make a garment out of -- but I liked the ice blue lemonade and the blue raspberry colors next to each other.
Between projects, and frustrated with a vest I'm trying to make for my DH, I decided to make the Ruffles scarf from Scarf Style with it. I didn't think I'd have enough yarn for the full 86 inches, but I did!! And here it is, worn by my beloved beastie, Brutus. (but I made it for me, not for him so this is his only chance to wear it!)
Also thought I'd flash my latest thrift store stash finds!
First a great loosely knit wool ribbon-like puffy yarn in pink and white. I had to pull a sleeve out of it 'cause I was dying to see it wound up. It's lovely!
A wonderful 100% silk pullover by Ann Taylor that I feel a little guilty about ripping out. But I think I will get over it.
And my favorite -- a hand knit in a tweedy brown. Great buttons. I don't know exactly what the fiber is, but there is no mistaking the lovely smell of raw silk that emanates from it!

So, now I have made all the yarnballs all fine again of my old chenilleshawl I knitted last fall. And I have decided to try a pattern for a Teddy>>>

Re-stashing ;)
In a panic that maybe now because it is April the charity shops are putting their knitwear away until Autumn and I might be stuck for things to reknit for the rest of the year I went round the charity shops near me:
From the top:
- Navy bloke's jumper; thick gauge; 55% ramie, 45% cotton (I don't actually know what ramie is); £3. I have plans for this, can't wait to start working on it!
- White bloke's jumper; thin gauge; 100% cotton; £1.99. Hopefully might be suitable for using to dye with.
- Long-sleeved, roll neck, burgundy/ plum, size 14 top; very very fine gauge; 100% silk; £2.75. Maybe suitable for lace - I didn't realise how shiny silk was!
- Black size 16 chunky cardie; chunky gauge; 70% acrylic and 30% wool but so snugly!; £4.50. Quite pricey but I need some black yarn ;) Plus it's got great giant press-studs and looks hardly worn.

a friend sent me a note to visit this blog, because she knows how much i like to reuse yarn ... i always knew there were other knitters who enjoy un-knitting as well! i was so excited to join ...
i have been un-knitting as long as i have been knitting. it started because i could buy better yarn at the thrift shop than i could ever afford from a yarn store! but un-knitting or frogging has become as much of an addiction for me as has knitting or spinning ... yes i spin, which leads people to wonder even more why i "bother" to take items apart for the yarn. but there is something about the deconstructive process i enjoy.
until last week i had not been thrift shopping for sweaters in MONTHS, but i found some beauties ... the multi-color is a vegetable dyed wool from portugal. it has 2 very obvious holes that would be impossible to invisibly mend so that makes my job a little easier. i have not devoted a lot of time to it, but i'm having a hard time finding the right place to start. it is top down, but the sleeves are not seamed onto the body, and they aren't exactly the same piece either.
the others are 100% or mostly wool. the subtle stripe has some mohair and a little acrylic - it is so lovely wound up. the bold stripe i thought would be nice for socks. the sage and teal are both color passions of mine. both will most likely become lacey wraps or large scarves, maybe socks and parts of other things.
looking forward to sharing and seeing more!

My first posting here

Hi Everyone! This is my first posting here in this KAL and I hope to make something to show you soon. I live in Sweden, Scandinavia, (Europe), and love knitting!
I have started with one of my shawls that I knitted last year in a tigerish chenilleyarn called 'leopard'... I washed it, dried it and is now ripping it up to yarnballs, and then I'll try making a teddy bear is my thought. I'll be back:)
Have Yarn but...
Blogger won't let me post pics. So follow the link to see my new-to-me yarn! I havn't measured it out (can't figure out where to find a scale) but it's surely enough for the cardigan I want to make!
