ReKAL and preReKAL Projects

I found this shetland wool sweater and a couple of angora blend sweaters at Goodwill in, of all places, Houston, Texas, where the only place you need a sweater is in the over-air-conditioned office buildings! Anyway, this one is going to be my ReKAL project.

My thing is cutting up sweaters and sewing them back together as small decorative quilts or garments. This one is going to be a vest (waistcoat).



I was really glad to find this KAL, because recycling has been part of my life since childhood. You probably won't mind if I show off my grocery-bag rug, which I made before joining ReKAL. It used about 180 bags, and it measures about 2 x 3 feet. Nowadays, I just take the empty bags back to the supermarket for recycling. They accumulate fast enough if I want to make another recycled bag project.

At last! Sophie is done. I'm a little disappointed in my felting. It didn't get as "short" as I'd hoped - but that's part of the uniqueness I guess! I love the houndstooth, and the bag is really roomy - it will be great for knitting projects! Still needs a shave. Posted by Hello
